Krill Oil vs. Fish Oil
There's a lot of marketing that goes along with supplements and lately, Krill Oil has been touted as being "better than Fish Oil". I'm not sure I agree. As a naturopathic doctor and the formulator for Vita Tree Supplements, I firmly believe that Fish Oil is the better choice. And here's why.
Both Krill Oil and Fish Oil are sources of the essential fatty acids DHA and EPA. However, Krill Oil has only 5% fatty acid content, which means that you need so much more Krill to supply it. This is the reason it's more expensive than Fish Oil. As far as sustainability, because you need so much krill to produce the Krill Oil, there are already the beginnings of supply shortages. Fish Oil, on the other hand, is 80% fatty acid, so you need less to produce the Fish Oil.
The other factor is the thousands of scientific tests that have been done to date proving the efficacy of Fish Oil. There are but a handful of scientific tests on Krill Oil.
