Toxins in Vitamins and Supplements

Many people assume that all supplements are natural and good for them, especially the ones you find in the health food store. Few realize that many so-called “natural” supplements are actually synthetic and chemically-based and produced. As a naturopathic doctor, I wanted to give my patients pure whole food products and searched but couldn’t find anything. This is one of the reasons I began to create my own VitaTree supplement line, after realizing that most of what was on the market was actually synthetic. The body doesn’t recognize synthetic vitamins and doesn’t know what to do with them. Unlike whole foods that benefit your health, synthetic vitamins not only do nothing to improve your health, they can actually make it worse. One of the worse culprits is Vitamin B3 which is made up of Niacin. Natural Vitamin B3 can be found in many foods, including yeast, meat, fish, milk, eggs, green vegetables, and cereal grains. The synthetic version Niacin can cause many side effects. Once touted as helping lower cholesterol, a study of 25,000 patients showed that it actually increased the risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes and diabetes. Any supplement that is chemically based can’t have the positive benefits of a whole food supplement that is good for your health.
