There are a number of dietary and lifestyle habits that can lead to the growth of uterine fibroids. A diet high in pro-inflammatory fats has been linked to increased fibroid growth. Too many carbohydrates in the diet also increases insulin levels which in turn, cause inflammation and the improper conjugation of estrogens. Higher estrogen levels are linked to fibroid tumours. Therefore, exposure to xenoestrogens, or chemicals in the environment that mimic the structure and function of our own estrogen can cause hormonal imbalances and lead to fibroids.
